Peace Poem 3
Dona Nobis Pacem
by Joy E. Dickerson
Darkness lengthens. Shadows
Outline bare branches.
Nest lies broken on the ground
As if birds never again return.
Now the winter peace has come.
Oak leaf shivers brown.
Blackbird caws.
Icicle shimmers like glinted peace.
Snowflake falls crystal-quiet.
Pull down a blanket of silent snow so
All be peaceful on the eastern front and south and north and west.
Capture peace like snowflake on the tongue.
Embrace it as you would a crying child.
Murmur, "peace has come."
